I’m getting my desktop ready and I’m looking forward to some new seasons of investigations. It looks like we lost a few shows along the way, but to be honest, that’s not necessarily a bad thing. A few of those shows needed to go and a couple more still need to go. So which ones do I think are coming back?

Shows on now:

Right now there is only one show back on the air and it’s GHI. I really liked the first season of this show but there have been dozens of cast changes and the way they break up the season is just maddening. I can’t say how much longer I’ll be on board for this one.

Shows coming soon:

I know two shows will be starting soon, Destination Truth on September 9th and Ghost Adventures starting up in September as well. These are the two I’m looking forward to the most, I just have a great time watching these and they look like they’re having a great time making the show.

Shows on the fence:

Paranormal State: It has no start date listed but the fact it’s still on the books leads me to believe it will be coming back. That being said, I wouldn’t be surprised if this is the last year for Satan seeking, Holy water throwing, seeing shadows in every corner, Ryan Buell and the PRS team. Ryan has become just way too damn melodramatic and quite honestly the show just isn’t that interesting anymore. Every single thing about this show seems staged and fake. The stories are weak, their reactions from the PRS team are WAY over the top, nothing is ever discovered and in the end Ryan buries a couple of medallions, tells the “spirits” they aren’t welcome, says a blessing and then heads home. And that “Director’s Log” crap is really wearing thin.

Shows that probably won’t be back:

Ghost Lab looks like it got the axe. Nothing is listed on Discovery and no new listings on IMDB. A Wikipedia entry sites they’re coming back for a second season but there is no actual confirmation of that. Their own websites lists two upcoming investigations this year, but no mention of the show. They may have had some of the coolest equipment, but their crazy antics and experiments may have done them in.

Looks like Paranormal Cops didn’t make it either. It has no return date listed in IMDB and the show has been pulled from the roster on the A&E website. There were some interesting aspects to this show, but overall it needed some work. They had procedures and guidelines which was great, but some of their fact checking seemed a little off and they made far too many connections that seemed to be huge leaps at best.

Shows that should never come back:

Ghost Hunters Academy. Please tell me we’ll never have to see or hear of this stupid show again… I can only hope.

Ghost Hunters will air again sometime this year, but really, who cares anymore?

I’m not sure which is worse, Ghost Lab or Ghost Hunters Academy. But then again, I’m not sure it really matters since both shows are complete crap. You would think with all the equipment Ghost Lab has at their disposal the show would be more rooted in science and scientific discovery (I mean that’s the whole point of their voiceover, right?). It turns out the show is nothing more than a couple of pranksters with a junior high mentality running around the country claiming that every place they visit is a breeding ground of the paranormal. That bathtub is haunted!

Brad and Barry are clueless and it’s painful to watch their process, not that they really have one. Their ideas are inept and with each episode they change their mind on what their data tells them. In one episode the values mean one thing, and then the very next segment (of the same show) the same values mean nothing to them. Come on, make up your mind. Is it important or not? Pick one and stick with it.

Every single thing that happens to them is the work of the paranormal. They hear a creak and it’s a spirit. A door closes and they call it a ghost. A picture comes out blurry and that is conclusive evidence they found something. I can’t bear to watch the show anymore because if someone farts in the other room, they’ll claim it’s paranormal.

You would expect a show that claims science holds the answers would be more on the side of debunking claims. But not these two. They don’t debunk a single thing. I’m beginning to think they don’t know what that word means. Truth is, I don’t think they know the meaning of a lot of words.

The episode that takes the cake and makes me want to scream is the episode involving John Wilkes Booth. This was the biggest load of nonsense I have ever seen on television (even more so than American Idol). Running around claiming they have John Wilkes Booth on tape was just pathetic. These guys should be ashamed. At the very least they should be embarrassed. It’s "Dumb and Dumber" go ghost hunting.

How these guys got a big trailer loaded with cool gear is the bigger mystery. Who’s financing this mess?

I can’t bring myself to watch the rest of the episodes I have recorded. It’s not like things will miraculously get better. Even if you polish a turd, it’s still a turd. I’m done with these dimwits.

The stupid, it hurts.

If you thought the tomfoolery of John Wilkes Booth couldn’t be topped, you haven’t seen the latest episode.

The Catfish Plantation is home to object manipulation, specifically some trickery with dinnerware. Clearly the work of a sinister force, no? If it was a spirit throwing chef’s knives we’d have something. Unfortunately, a cutlery crossing apparition doesn’t seem all that interesting.

Like so many other episodes, nothing really happens. They aren’t able to capture much but a few goofy things happen. After a whole lot of nothing happens and they’re walking around surveying the scene they see a spoon on the floor. Clearly this is the work of paranormal activity. A spoon couldn’t just fall on the floor it had to be manipulated and the brothers divine a grand plan to capture it by ignoring it.

They spend time sitting in the dark playing Jenga. Two big Texans playing a game in the corner. It’s riveting stuff I assure you.

Let’s jump right in.

To put it bluntly, the Klinge brothers claim they have a recording of John Wilkes Booth speaking from beyond the grave. This show has now risen to an all new level of idiocy overshadowing all the other absurd claims and shoddy evidence they have presented before. And if you’ve watched the previous episodes you know that’s a pretty hefty claim.

The Klinge brothers are hot on the trail of John Wilkes Booth and what conspiracy theorists believe really happened to him after he got away. They claim he actually lived his life on stage under different names and lived for many years until he took his own life.

The investigation starts in a Texas opera house where Booth, under the name John St. Helen appeared on stage for many years. Setting up their cameras the brothers hope to get Booth to appear on stage for all to see. Working off their "era cues" idea they enlist the help of many of the town citizens to sit in the theater and be part of the audience to see if Booth will come out. Not surprisingly nothing happens.
